My boat ”Ledung”

“Ledung” is a traditional clinker-built snip, fisherman, putput boat, dear child has many names. The clinker-built boat is on UNESCO’s Intangible Cultural Heritage List. The boat’s construction dates back to the Viking Age.
“Ledung” was built in 1984 in Houtskär by the legendary boat builder Sven Lans who built 222 clinker-built boats. The last boat he built for himself and his family in Saverkeit. The boat was named Snigeln and is still registered under that name. When I came across Snigeln a few years ago, I named it Ledung after my research projects. Ledung has taken me from Houtskär in the west to Lovisa in the east.
